Manicure Monday: Pink Ladies!

Hi Dolls,

I hope you all had an amazing weekend!
After spending the week with black nails, which I loved by the way, I felt that I was in need of a brighten up and let's face it pink is always a good choice.
So I scavenged through my polish drawer contemplating the choices until I stumbled across this one.
This was my first ever OPI polish I bought and at the time it was the brightest most Barbie-est pink I could find and it has been a favourite ever since.

Please put your hands together for OPI's Koala Bear-y!
This beautiful pink always makes me feel like part of the Pink Ladies.

So I applied three coats of OPI's Koala Bear-y to each finger nail and allowed it to dry then using OPI's Top Coat I sealed in the beauty with some extra shine.

I was trying to think of a feature nail colour but for some reason I stuck to basic nails today maybe I needed something different.

Don't let anyone tell you pink is wrong because everyone should be able to release their inner Pink Lady!

Bride Magazine Wedding Expo Melbourne!

Hi Dolls,

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the 2014 Bride Magazine Wedding Expo.
I have to admit I was not interested in this expo at all, like all other wedding expo's, there has been no useful information for getting married overseas or for getting married in New Zealand.
But this year they had one stand that I really have been hanging out to visit the Queenstown Wedding Association.

For those of you who don't already know my Fiancée proposed to me on top of one of the snow capped mountains in Queenstown, New Zealand. Because of this we are wanting to continue our commitment of forever over in Queenstown in an intimate wedding.
So to be able to talk face to face with someone who works and lives in Queenstown and has their business there too was so exciting to me.
It is really hard to be able to find good detailed information about weddings and venues online and half the time the photos are so photoshopped that they look nothing like they are portrayed online in person.

So we spent about half an hour talking to a wedding planner who was full of wonderful information and ideas. She opened our minds to things that we had not thought of before and other options that would benefit us better.

One thing we were really oncerned about was making sure our ceremony would be recognised as a legal marriage for when we get home and she went through in great detail all the forms and applications we have to do to make sure we are going to have a marriage recognised by the Australian government.

She also helped us with venue choices.
I had in mind on venue but after talking to her about the size of the venue it became obvious that it would be way too large for the small intimate wedding we would be having.
So she gave us some great options for a reception venue and I think we have decided exactly where it is we would like to get married.

I feel like I could prattle on about this one stand forever but I guess you are wondering what else was there and to be honest the rest of the expo was not really that good.
It was mostly stores on photographers and wedding bands and photobooths.
I was hoping there would have been some cake ideas but there was one stand and their cakes were nothing to the standard I would want for my wedding cake.

They did though have a Bridal Fashion Show which showcased all the gowns of the season which were beautiful but being there with my amazing Fiancée I didn't want to be looking at dresses and letting him see what style I would be interested in I really want to keep everything a surprise for him.
But I do have a couple of photos for you all to look at...

I have to say a lot of the dresses that were advertised were very Gatsby inspired and there was a lot of lace and beading some were just mindblowingly beautiful.

This will probably we the last Wedding Expo we attend like I said they are generally not useful for us being based in Melbourne.
We had a great time talking to the girls at the QWA stand and we both can't wait to get married amongst the beauty of Queenstown and it's people.

Did any of you attend this wedding expo this weekend? Or maybe another ?

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Food Diaries: Vegan Fried Rice!

Hi Dolls,

I have a love for Asian cuisine and so does my Fiancée so I tend to cook a lot of Asian variants and one the most popular dishes is fried rice and I have been making my version for years and everyone always loves it and compliments on the flavour. So I thought I would share the recipe with you.

What you are going to need:
- Jasmine Rice
-Spring Onions
-Carrot
-Capsicum
-Peas
-Corn
-Oyster Sauce
-Soya Sauce
-Ginger
-Garlic
-Sesame Oil
-Sweet Sherry

So in the morning I prepare the rice and cook it till almost soft then line a tray with some paper bags and then place rice onto the tray and smooth out and then cover with some paper towels and place in the fridge for the day to go hard.

Then when ready to have dinner I dice up some capsicum and carrot and get some frozen peas and corn and precook it until almost cooked.
Then grab a small jug and place in  some Oyster Sauce ( I use a vegan version made from Mushrooms), Soya Sauce, Ginger, Garlic, Sweet Sherry and a dash of sesame oil and mix together and let sit to let the flavours infuse.

Then take a frypan and place a dash of peanut oil into the base and warm the oil.
Then take the prepared vegetables and place them into the frypan and stir-fry them until warmed through and then add prepared rice mix through and then add the sauce and mix well.
Add some chopped spring onion and warm through.

And all that is left to do is enjoy this yummy dish.

Of course you can add egg and bacon and make it a normal version of fried rice I used to before I was vegan!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Surviving High School!

Hi Dolls,

The other day I was watching a video from an Australian YouTuber talking about her experience with High School and how she got through it when I was watching it I was thinking to myself this girl was in the popular crowd yes she had some hard times but she was still excepted that sounds nothing like a lot of girls and boys have to deal with on a daily basis going through school so I thought that I would talk about my experience.
I in no way have had the worst experience it was bad but I know people who have had worse but anything can help when you are facing torment every day.

I went the a public school both Primary and Secondary School I was outcasted and made to feel I was ugly or weird or a loser no one would give me the time to be friends or get to show people what I was really like.  I went through Primary School without any friends only a couple of times did I have a friend and that did not last long at all. Once I was invited to a sleepover party of one of the popular girls and once the night went on I realised I was there for their entertainment I got chased around the house with a knife and told if I fell asleep they would hurt me or make me wet the bed you can guess that I was terrified but I was too frightened to phone home because of what they would do to me at school.
That is a glimpse into the way the people I went to school were like.
So the thought of High School gave me a little hope that I could start a fresh and have people who haven't ever met me give me the time of day but I was wrong.

I was placed into a class that you could say was the class they shove people when they can't be controlled when my parents questioned why I was in this class all the said was we need to balance it out with quieter students so of course this did not help with trying to find my place in the world or to try and make friends.

The name calling started not long after the year started called ugly, told that I was flatter than the brick wall while all the boys laughed and teased me, told that I was a loser and threatened to be bashed was a daily occurrence.

That birthday I got a ADIDAS jacket my first name brand item of clothing I was so excited but a week after having it it was stolen and one of the other girls started wearing it and when I said something about it she lied and said she had been given it by her parents and even the teachers believed her thats when I learnt not to wear anything nice to school.

Until year 9 things happened like this until I got placed with a new set of people who were much worse than the last lot.
I finally was able to do textiles in year 9 and I was really good at sewing and crafts and looked forward to finally having a class that would bring me some fun and enjoyment boy was I wrong.
One of the girls came at me one class with her container of pins trying to stab my eyes out yelling at me telling me that she was going to pluck them out from my head I was terrified and so were my parents so a meeting was arranged with the principals and all they said was we will arrange a mediation meeting between the girls and when they had this girl in the room with me she denied everything and said that I had made it all up so nothing was done about it and I was left to deal with the wrath of this girl in the school ground.
Not only did she torment me but the whole crowd of popular people did until I was at the point of suicide the only thing that stopped me from going through with it was the love of my family and a youth group leader who I see as my big sister rather than a leader.

This went on until the day I left school that last day of school was the best day for me it may have signalled the start of adulthood which meant I had to start living life and taking on new responsibilities but anything was  better than having to deal with life in school with these people.

I do have to say in the later years of school a made a few friends who really did help me get through the day and even stood up for me at times and I am so thankful to those people.
To my dear friend who used to cut visual communication with me just so we could have hot chocolates I thank you this gave me something to look forward to in the week filled with terror.

Like I said before I have not had the worst school experience I know people that have had a lot worse but I wanted to show any of my Dolls out there if they are struggling with bullying or school life in general look to the light at the end of the tunnel I know that it looks grim right now but in a few years you will be free from these people that you will never see again and I'll let you into a little secret these kinds of people get no where in life they are the ones left filling gas or making burgers for the rest of their lives but you will do great things. Don't let people douse that flame that is burning in you that brings light to the world around you. I let people extinguish mine and I stopped smiling and stopped being happy and fell into a deep depression and even ended up at the point of anorexia. Don't let people have that amount of control over you and your emotions they really are not worth your tears, your pain or your life.

There is someone out there that is waiting to be your friend and the love of your life keep that in mind when you are feeling alone, these people mean nothing.

If you are struggling with any form of bullying feel free to message me or even talk to a counsellor or a school chaplain or even a family member. There is always some one here to listen to you.
I know that bullying doesn't only happen in the school ground I have had it in the work place as well as online there is way too much hatred in this world I wish everyone could see how better life is with love.

My personal email is hollybissell@gmail.com if you ever need to talk feel free to message me.

I hope you are all having a great day filled with love, light and joy!

TBT: Royal Wedding Dresses!

Howdy Dolls,

I am really getting to the stage where I want to try on wedding dresses even though we have not set a date and are busy saving as much as possible but seeing all these pretty dresses makes me want to go and play dress up.

I have to admit I did get a so called custom made dress made from China and when it arrived it didn't fit perfect even though it was made to measure (this is pictured above) I will not be using that dress that's why I was happy to use it on here today.
The lace up is laced to its maximum and it really could go tighter and the length is too short and they have made it for someone with a bloated belly ... obviously not me.

We are hoping to be getting married in the Winter and Queenstown, New Zealand, so I have been thinking maybe I would need a classic sleeved dress something like Grace Kelly the Princess of Monaco or Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge they made the sleeves classy something that a lot of long sleeved dresses failed to do.

I thought it would be fun to look through some of the most famous royal dresses throughout history well at least my favourites.

Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge:
I stayed up to watch this wedding it was beautiful.
I think I have mentioned before that Kate is my style icon she holds herself with such class and grace and she is always dressed chic and very mindful.
I love this gown the shape of the neck and the classic lace used through the bodice it is just perfect.

Princess Mary of Denmark:
A fellow Aussie from the beautiful Tasmanian city of Hobart.
This was very much a fairytale wedding showing that even an average Australian girl can win the heart of a European Prince.
Her dress was so classic and simple with no lace but fitted satin.
It really suited her style and class.

Grace Kelly the Princess of Monaco:
I had the honour of seeing this dress in a Grace Kelly gown exhibit here in Bendigo.
Photos do no justice for the beauty of this dress!
The lace is so intricate and the beading through the lace and over the dress sparkles and shines.
The train was magnificent and flowed behind.

Diana Spencer Princess of Wales:
Probably one of the most famous dresses of all time.
The iconic 80s dress had a veil that flowed right down the centre of Westminster Abbey.
Covered in intricate lace and custom made for her in mind it was a perfect gown for the 80s princess.

Elizabeth II Queen of England:
I have always thought that Queen Elizabeth was such a beautiful woman she has natural beauty the shines.
This beautiful 1940s gown is a stunning full beaded gown that is as chic and classy as she always has been.
I have always loved her tiara it looks so Art Deco and glistens and shines wherever she moves her head.

Elizabeth I Queen of England:
A typical 1920s gown very simple but a beautiful lace veil.
Probably not one of the most attractive women but she held herself like any royal woman.

Mary Queen of England:
One of the most beautiful gowns from the 19th century.
I would love to have lived in this era with the beautiful gowns with layers of taffeta and lace.

Victoria the Queen of England:
I have always loved Queen Victoria she did so much for her country and the colonies.
Maybe it's because I live in Victoria but she has always I powerful and inspirational woman with a wonderful story.
Her gown was very unique and she lead the way for wedding dresses of the day.

Charlene Princess of Monaco:
I loved this gown it is like two gowns put together one fitted chic gown and one with a long cathedral train.
I love the simple veil it complements her whole outfit.
The delicate lacework and beading down the dress is stunning and the shape of the sleeves brings class to this gown.

I can't wait to feel like a Princess and walk down the aisle to my Prince Charming.

What gowns have you always loved and would love to walk down the aisle in?

Top Ten Tuesday: Online Shopping!

Hi Dolls,

I am one of the fussiest shoppers there is seriously it is normally a waster of time going to a shopping centre to find clothes I generally never find anything and end up getting annoyed and frustrated that there is nothing that I like.
So I prefer to sit in the comfort of my own home and shop to my hearts content without the worry of crowds or grumpy shop assistants.

I wanted to share with you all my favourite places to shop online.

Alannah Hill:
So this store is not only an online store but I love it to bits.
It sells quirky and cute garments that I have never seen anywhere else.
The only thing is this store is very expensive so if you are on a budget this probably isn't the store for you if you aren't wanting to be tempted.

ASOS:
This is probably the most famous online clothing store with the largest variety.
They stock all kinds of brands and you are basically guaranteed to find what you are looking for.
But unfortunately at the moment they are closed due to a fire in their warehouse.

Birdsnest:
This online  store stocks everything for us girls.
This was only a new find for me so I'm not sure if it has been around for a while and I just didn't know about it but I like the big Aussie brands they stock here such as MinkPink, Seafolly and Wish.
So this store is also a little pricey not really a discount store.

Boohool.com:
Another big name online store from the shores of England.
They blast these ads on the TV late at night stating they stock High Street brands I don't know how true that is considering I'm not from England and have never been shopping on High Street.
But they have some really good sales here and you can sometimes pick up a good bargain.

Ebay:
So of course everyone knows about Ebay but I use it all the time for clothing.
Being a smaller sized chickadee I like to take advantage of the cheap clothing store from Hong Kong and China that are selling on Ebay you can get the same items we are buying in store for a fraction of the price straight from the manufacturer.
But you also have to be very careful shopping on Ebay a lot of people like to try and rip you off.

Etsy:
I don't know if many people are aware that Etsy actually sells clothes too you can get some unique handmade clothes that are generally better quality than what we will get in stores.
Also you can find some amazing vintage items here from all over the world.

Sheinside:
If you are looking for a cheaper online store than this might be for you.
Sheinside is a store where you can find the most unique clothes but also highly fashionable clothes for a great price.
I was looking at a dress other day and it was only going to cost me $20.00 and this was a high quality item and super cute.
My sailor dress from last weeks Wordless Wednesday post was actually from Sheinside and that costed me $25.00 and it is really well made and it is by a smaller designer house that is trying to take off.

Forever New:
Ok so this is not only an online store but it is also an actual store but I love this store.
A lot of people have asked where I manage to find my clothes because they are quite cute and chic well the answer is generally Forever New.
They stock high quality girly clothes like nothing that has hit out shores.
But it can be a little pricey.

Princess Polly:
You can tell by the name yet another girly clothing store.
Princess Polly is a lot like Birdsnest so they aren't that cheap but sometimes when you are struggling to find something it's good to have options.

The Iconic:
Another well known online store a like like asos and boohoo.com they stock a large amount of brands and a large variety of stock.
They also have some good sales so keep an eye out maybe you will find something you like.

There are so  many sites to buy clothes on these days that this list could go on forever but I thought I would let you know of my most trusted stores.
Also some of these are Australian stores and I am not 100% if they ship overseas but if they do thats great!

Where do you all love to shop online?
